Our Story

5L Farms, at its heart, is a family story. Named for the five Laymans, Joel and Heidi and their three children, Andrew, Allison, and Matthew- it’s a life built on the land in southwest Michigan. It’s early mornings and long days, with seasons that don’t slow down. It’s work that doesn’t get skipped. Raising animals with care, and knowing the most important thing being raised here isn’t cattle or crops, it’s their family.
Joel is a husband, a father, and a farmer, with roots in agriculture since 1837, but this is a farm he built himself. Heidi is a wife, mother, and doctor, raised in a farming family. Together, they’re building something that their children won’t just grow up around, but grow into. Grown with intention for their own table, and now shared with yours.
